On the Fire Route, only a few kilometres from Liège, Verviers or Maastricht, discover the authentic coal mine at Blegny.

You have two options :

1. Visit the Mine

All the processes of mining coal are shown, from the winning of the coal to the shipping : first you go down in the miners cage to -30 and -60 metres; you visit the coal face and the underground galleries of the mine. Then you discover the secrets of the washing and sorting processes.

Practical information : the tour is laid out for easy access. The only difficulty is that you have to go down two staircases. So the mine can be visited by all age groups.

2. Day ticket

Take advantage of the Day ticket which includes the guided visit to the mine (2 hours).  The visit to the museum presents eight centuries of coal mining (1.30 hours), a trip by road-train, through the orchards and pastures of the "Basse Meuse" (50 minutes), the audio-guided discover of the tip (50') and various other attractions (playgrounds, "mining" golf, open air museum, recreation park with pools and small animals).
